DOMINION LEADER SAYS ONLY FEW ACCEPT OFFER

SCHRISTCHURCH, Mar. 29. “It must be clearly understood that before the lock-out was imposed on them the majority of the carpenters in Auckland were enjoying the 4s an hour and travelling time they are now claiming." said the national president of the Carpenters’ Union, Mr. F, L. Langley, yesterday. Mr. Langley was commenting on the report that some carpenters haa gone back to work in Auckland. “Information has been received from the Auckland office," said Mr. Langley. "That very few men have resumed work in spite of the employers’ invitation." He added that a meeting of all a.embers of the Auckland branch was being held today to consider the further'policy or the union. A resolution pledging full moral and financial support for the locked-out carpenters was carried unanimously at the quarterly meeting of the Christchurch Plasterers’ Union held last evening. It was decided to circularise member's asking them to contribute financial support and £SO was granted oy the union towards the carpenters’ lockout fund.
