Aust. Doubles Imports Of British Textiles And Metal Goods
CANBERRA. Mar. 9.
Australia has more than doubled her purchases of British textiles and metal manufactures in the six months ended December 31, compared with the same period of 1947. This is shown in the comparative figures on Australian trade issued by the Statistician’s Office.
The value of imports of British textiles in the six months to December 31 was £26,313,000, compared with £12,299,000 in the similar period of 1947.
Figures for metal manufactures from Britain were £22,176,000, compared with £9,333,000.
