MR. J. B. GOULD. B.V.Sc., has commenced duties in the Gisborne district as a member of the veterinary staff of the Gisborne Veterinary Club.

MR. D. P. O’CONNOR. Feilding, accompanied by his wife and young son Terry, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. O’Connor. Stout street.

MR. N. H. BULL, the Mayor, presided over last night’s fortnightly meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council. Other councillors present were Messrs. G. J. Jeune. G. D. Muirhead. W. C. Kohn, R. Morse, and J. 11. -Hall.

MR. J. A. CASHIN, formerly now dock works engineer to the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board, arrived at Wclington from England by the Tamaroa on Monday to take up his duties as engineer to the Lyttelton Harbour Board. —P.A.

MR. A. C. COOKE, Auckland, formerly famous as a member of the 1924 and other All Black Rugby football teams, is spending a few days in Gisborne as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. G. Sutton, of the Gisborne Hotel.

MR. W. NASH, Minister of Finance, accompanied by Mrs. Nash and members of his official party, left Gisborne this morning for Napier. Mr. and Mrs. Nash were the guests of Mrs. E. Burton. Tolaga Bay, during their stay in the district.

THE REV. W. S. SOUTHWARD, general secretary of the New Zealand Anglican Board of Missions, will visit Gisborne this week. On Thursday evening in the Parish Hall he is to show moving pictures of life and work in the Pacific mission fields. A sound film of Westminster Abbev also will be included in the programme.

MR. E. BRUCE LEVY, director of the Grasslands Division, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, and Mr. P. D.
