Single Direct Favoured For £BSOO Race

(10 a.m.) SYDNEY, Mar. A Because of his outstanding form at Wayville on Saturday night, Single Direct is now outright favourite for the final of the £BSOO race .next Saturday. Amorous, Bandbox and Recovered are next favourite. Wagers booked about Single Direct on Saturday were £2OO to £IOO, £135 to £6O and £IOO to £SO. Single Direct has wow won £16,605 in stake money, including £550 for his Adelaide success. Two offers of 3000 guineas were last week refused for the three-year-old Tycoon who was responsible for such a sensational race in the pacing Derby. Mr. .Allan Matson, the New Zealand Trotting Conference President, said that Tycoon's performance was the greatest three-year-old effort he had ever seen. Single Direct will have his last race in Australia on Saturday. His rider-trainer. Kennerley, will go home on Sunday by plane. Captivated Crowd

Single Direct captivated the crowd at Wayville on Saturday . night when on a rain-soaked track he paced faultlessly and won his division without being exerted from 36 yards behind. He struck the front on the second lap and never afterwards looked like being headed over the two miles. Single Direct was favourite. He is now ahead on points which show Single Direct, 10; Bandbox, 8: Recovered, Belgrave, each 6. Amorous did not appreciate the twomile journey and was beaten a long way from home. Tycoon was responsible for a sensational run in winning the Pacing Left 130 yards. Tycoon went a terriffia rate and got up in the last stride to beat Amazing by a head.
