GISBORNE BAND SUCCESS.

Sir, —I wish to congratulate the Gisborne City Band on its performance at the contest in Auckland. I am sure I am voicing the opinion of hundreds of Gisborne music lovers when I say we were thrilled to hear the results, also to hear that records have been made of the contest items and that we will have a chance of hearing them broadcast tonight over the local station. It must be very gratifying to the con. ductor, also the band and officials, to know their efforts were worth while, and we wish the band good luck for the future. An onlooker at the Pipe Band contest also told me that the Gisborne Pipe Band acquitted itself well, and, although it was not placed, gave a tine performance. J. COLEMAN.
