TWO YACHTS IN COLLISION: NO SERIOUS DAMAGE

The first serious accident on the bay for three years occurred during the races conducted by the Gisborne Yacht Club on Saturday afternoon, when the two Idle Along class boats. Estelle and Ajax collided while rounding a buoy. Ajax had her side stove in by the Estelle’s bow sprit and both boats retired from the race. Following an inspection of the damage Ajax’s skipper was confident that the damage could be repaired by next week-end, when members of the Whakamarino Boating Club are to visit Gisborne. local condiitons for sailing prevailed on Saturday and the boats competing in the three races all made good times. Although the large spinnaker, which she lost last week had not been replaced Gale still won the main race from scratch and with minutes to spare. Ihe two Tauranga class boats found the wind fairly strong for them, but enjoyed a fast afternoon's racing. Results were: Tauranga Class Boats.—Chic, t'Omin., 1; Pin Head, filmin., 2.
