The attendance was large and the tolalisator handled £14,104 10s. as against 14,048 10s on the corresponding day last year. The total for the meeting was £29,228 10s, compared with £30,058. Battle Spear was placed first, but an inquiry was instituted at the requesl of the stipendiary steward for alleged crossing by Battle Spear on Newspaper and All’s Fair. The judicial committee " placed Newspaper first. All’s Fair, which finished third, in second place, and Battle Spear third. On an appeal by the owner of Battle Spear the judicial committee refused to alter the places.
