Club championships in the variou divisions over the 220yds. distance an( a mercantile relay which drew 4! teams attracted a good attendance t< the Macrae Baths last night for ; carnival conducted by the Gisborm Amateur Surf and Swimming Club. All shapes, sizes and sexes went t( make up the teams from the mercan tile firms and there was a wide diver' gence in ages. Despite these handicaps this annual event again brought tc light a large number of promising swimmers. Tire teams were re-handi-capped for the semi-finals and final: and it was in a closely fought-oul tussle that Murray, Roberts (B) tools the decision.
