MAN & WOMAN FOUND GUILTY OF ROBBERY
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 12. Returning a verdict within an hour in the Supreme Court today a jury found Nehunga Tongariro, aged 30. labourer, and Patricia Manson, aged 30, waitress, guilty of robbing William James Johnston on October 29 of a wallet valued at £2. also £ll in money and a wristlet watch valued at £l3, Having found the accused guilty on the first joint count the jury did not consider a second count separately against Manson of receiving the watch or a second count against Tongariro of assault upon Johnston. Both prisoners were remanded by Mr. Justice Hay until this afternoon for sentence. Herbert Lorraine Woodham, aged 31, blacksmith and labourer, failed to appear in the Supreme Court today to face his trial on a charge of using obscene language in a public place and a charge of mischief by wilfully damaging a glass showcase, glass jar and 61b. of confectionery. On the application of the Crown a warrant was issued for Woodham’s arrest and his bail of £25 in his own recognisance was estreated.
