BABY’S BODY FOUND IN OLD DEED-BOX

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Feb. 10. The decomposed body ,of a newly-born infant was found when an old iron deedbox was opened at the Auckland morgue before the coroner and police officers. Death apparently took place two years ago. An inquest will be opened when the police have made further inquiries. The owner of a block of flats at Onehunga noticed a smell, which he traced to some luggage in the basement. He communicated with the owner and it was moved. The matter was reported to the police, who interviewed the woman. She is stated to have given them a package wrapped in old sheets which proved to be an old iron deed-box.
