DOCTOR BELIEVES HE CAN TALK CHIMPANZEE
LONDON. Dr. Stanley Rundle, of Redhill (Surrey). has been going to zoos to talk to chimpanzees and believes he is slowly picking up their language. He says “Megn kaah” means "I don’t like you," and “Aaah kaah” means “I’m thirsty.” The 35-year-old doctor is secretary of the Institute of Linguists and has been studying a book called “Do You Speak Chimpanzee”? written by a German called Schwidetzky in 1931. Later, he said, two Americans named Yerk and Learned wrote a chimpanzee dictionary. Dr. Rundle said: “I’m not the first man to talk to monkeys. People think I’m crazy, but I believe ape language may be the origin of human speech.”
