Canadian Heirs To Fortune in N.Z. Not Optimistic
MONTREAL, Feb. 4. Mr. S. M. Telfer, one of the eight heirs to the 20,000,000-dollar fortune of the late Mr. Charles Telfer, of Wellington, New Zealand, told reporters today that he doubts if he will ever receive his share and that he is not so keen on getting it, anyhow. Mr. Telfer, who has been informed that his share is now on its way to him, said: “This thing has been going on for a long, long time. “I seem to be some sort of a cousin of Charles Telfer, who died in 1927. I have never taken much interest in the matter, mainly because of the troubles it would involve. “I ..will be plagued by every salesman in town. They will try to sell me every conceivable thing in the world. It seems it would be a lot easier to live without the legacy.” Asked what he would do with the money when he got it, Mr. Telfer replied: “What can I say when I don’t think I will get it, anyway?” Another of the heirs. Mr. David Teller, of Cornwall, Ontario/ was just as phlegmatic about his legacy.
