NEW TESTS ON DECAY OF TEETH

NEW YORK. In a big experiment to help reduce tooth decay, 500 New York dentists are coating the teeth of many of their patients with Inexpensive chemical solutions. It is known as the zinc chloride treatment. A report on it was made to the Greater New York Dental Association’s annual meeting. Two chemicals are applied. They are painless and the procedure takes only two or three minutes. In that time, the enamal is given a protective blanket, which is believed to prevent the entrance of tooth decay germs. Report on the use of the chemicals was given by Dr. Leon Lieber, who said tests in the past six years showed "extremely promising procedure.’’ But dentists wanted more evidence of their merit, before recommending the practice for standard use.
