Big Wage Rise Sought in Australia

MELBOURNE. Feb. 10. The Australian Council of Trade Unions will seek an increase of 32s 4d weekly in the basic wage before the Full Court this month. Officials say that the amount to be sought is based on the prices index and that by the time the case is heard the cost of living rises will probably lift the amount to 355.

If the application is granted the average basic wage for the six capital cities will be £7 17s.
