W. L. AITKEN WILL AGAIN RIDE KING'S RANSOM

TAULOCH'S CHANCE AT WANGANUI

(Herald Special Service) yOMORROW, when the Wanganui Jockey Club concludes its chief race meeting of the season, the tit-bit will be the weight-for-age event, the Jackson Stakes, run over a mile. Four of the six who have made the final payment represent the very best class. All the fields look as if they will furnish good racing. Gisborne’s representative, King’s Ransom, has been scratched ; for the Earle Stakes, but according to reports from Awapuni,.. : j where the big Lang Bian gelding is at present, he will contest the j weight-for-age race. 1

FORDELL HACK HURDLES Master Raymond, the top-weighl, has not raced of late so no line is obtainable about his present form. Nepeta won so easily the first day that he looks like a favourite again. Voltage ran a peculiar race on the opening day, not putting in an appearance until the last three furlongs, when he finished strongly for fourih; he may do ever so much better this time. War Effort ran a surprising third last week back and on that form will now enter calculations, which he did not do last Saturday. Of those on the nine-stone mark, none makes an appeal. SEDGEBROOK JUVENILE HOP Koala did not race last week, but has form and maybe this one will be the public’s choice. Sayani ran one good race at Wellington, but when expected on the final day disappointed to some extent. Brown Jester is pasesd over in favour of Vigorous, who. although nowhere the first day, met with interference and the rider responsible received a month’s hoilday. On his second the first day Already will be better liked than he was on that occasion. There are another dozen in this event not mentioned as they have no form to discuss, although maybe among them are one or two who may take part in the finish, but they are difficult to sort out. LANDGUARD HACK HCP. Marlainair heads this list with 9.0, which points to the fact that perhaps they are not a good lot of hack sprinters. This gelding has disappointed a few times in the past six or seven weeks, but his turn might come now. Mr. Justice was fifth the first day and may be worth a little more notice this time as three of the four that finished ahead of him on that occasion are now absentees. General Hope was not in the first eight on the opening day, but the next on the list, Ngarobi, was third and now finds Reward and Miss Beau, who beat him, non-acceptors. Bella Mia failed a week back, but her form was fair prior to that. War Admiral was one of the maiden surprises the first day and even though he won then his form had been poor this season before that success. Double Bid, the other novice winner of the opening day, is a possibility, but having drawn 20 on a track
