5/- OFF-COURSE BETS FAVOURED BY CLUBS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 11. An official of the Racing Conference stated yesterday that the Racing and Trotting Conferences suggested to the Royal Commission that, if considered desirable, provision could readily be made for the acceptance of 5/- offcourse bets. It was considered essential that doubles totalisator betting would be ir 5/- units. This reply was given in answer to an inquiry as to whether it was the intention of the racing clubs to provide 5/- totalisators.
