The Wellington district committee has appointed Mr. L. A. Pine, Awapuni, to be a patrol steward. The Wellington Racing Club has appointed Mr. L. G. Morris as starter, vice Mr. W. Price, who resigned recently. Gay , Stroller pulled himself to pieces in the early stages of the Wanganui Cup and he will not fulfil his engagement this week. L. Pine will freshen him up for the Manawatu autumn meeting, which may be followed by a trip to Riccarton. Battle Strife has gone out for a spell and Gay Stroller is having an easy time for a few days. Trafalgar Day is another who is having a hpliday which may last for some time. Red Glare has resumed work under L. C. Knapp. He has put on a lot of condition during his spell and looks a picture of health.
