THE PAGAN HAS POPULAR WIN

(Herald Special Service.) The Pagan at Wanganui completed a “hot” double as he and King’s Ransom were at very short odds. The Pagan ran two good thirds at Wellington, and with 8.6, plus Eroughton. was backed in many centres for all the money available. He has always been classed among the best handicap sprinters in the middle part of the North Island, and had he been more judiciously raced and placed might have done even better. He is by St. Boswells from the Hawke’s Bay Cup winner The Ring (by Siegfried) who was not a reliable mare when racing, so that he can be classed as the second-best of the progeny of his sire that has raced. The second-best backed on Saturday. Wild Note, who was second, looks as if he will be an early winner for he has not raced since the eary spring.
