’QUAKE CENTRE IN SEA OFF WEST COAST

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 11. The acting Dominion seismologist, Mr. R. C. Hayes, stated yesterday that the earthquake felt at 5-31 yesterday morning in Wellington had also been reported from various centres extending from the Chateau Tongariro to Akaroa lighthouse. These revealed that the quake was sharp. Mr. Hayes added that the disturbance most likely occurred at a considerable depth in the sea between Taranaki and Golden Bay at a distance estimated at about 150 miles from Wellington.
