BILL FOR REGISTRATION OF PAINTERS

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 10. A bill will be presented to Parliament shortly to provide for the registration of tradesmen in the painting and decorating trade. This was announced after the annual conference of the New Zealand Master Painters. Decorators and Signwriters Association concluded at Christchurch yesterday. The bill is to be presented jointly by the employers and workers. The following officers were elected: President: Mr. G. Bridges (Wanganui); vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Robinson (Auckland), and J. Manhire (Christchurch): executive, Messrs. Powley and R. A. Gibb (Auckland), H. H. Rush and J. Perry (Wellington), I. T. Wright and C. Hawkins (Hawke’s Bay), D. Hadfield and R. Emanuel (Wanganui), J. Jordan and S. Symon (Manawatu). E. T. Bell, and E. Brown and P. D. Tonkin (North Canterbury), E. Manthorp and M. Harty (South Canterbury), I. M. McKeich and A. E. Heather (Otago); secretary and treasurer, Mr. H. F. Rutland (Christchurch); 'auditor, Mr. G. Sey (Christchurch): Standards Institute Representatives, Messrs. E. J. Bell (Christchurch), H. E. Guise and H. 11. Rush (Wellington): Representatives in Wellington of the federation, Messrs. E. Stanbridge and J. T. Parry.
