ARATUCKY IN GOOD FETTLE AT MAKARAKA

(Herald Special Service.) The favourite Sandelwood, who ran fourth, was well beaten in the Turanga Hack, won on Saturday by the four-year-old mare, Aratucky, who was the second best backed on the win machine. This mare was produced in fine fettle. She was got by a useful galloper Kentucky from Arakura, by the Paper Money horse, Inflation from Hallovinia, by Hallowmas (by Martagon the sire of Martian) from Merrivonia (winner of two Manawatu Cups, one Wanganui Cup and about a dozen other races), by Merriwee from Livonia, a member of the No. 24 family. Aratucky finished last week as though she may prefer a middle distance to the short courses. The consistent Comedy Star again gave of his best to beat all but the winner to whom he was conceding 211bs. Blue Spec, a Nizami gelding not up to the standard of his sire's progeny, could only run third.
