MR. CHARLES JAMES _ MARTIN secretary to the Otago High School Board, has been appointed secretary to the Nelson Education Board, to fill the vacanacy caused by the retirement of Mr. H. J. Thornton. There were 36 applicants.—P.A.
CHIEF DETECTIVE J. GIBSON, officer in charge of the detective branch of the Southland police, has received notice of his transfer to Wellington. Chief Detective CibSon was transferred to Invercargill from Dunedin three and a half years ago. He headed the New Zealand police delegation on exchange to Australia last year.
MR. C. C. AIIvMAN of the staff of the Prime Minister’s Department arrived at Auckland bv air service from Sydney yesterday. He later left by air service for Wellington. lie was an adviser to the New Zealand delegation at the last General Assembly of United Nations, Paris, having been in England for three years completing a post-graduate course in law at the London School of Economics. —P.A.
