MEASURES TO RELIEVE TENSION BETWEEN KARENS AND BURMANS
RANGOON, Jan. 21. Ba U Gyi, the Karen National Union president, declared over the Rangoon radio that- the tension between the Karens and Burmans had reached “frightening proportions” and that vigorous measures would be taken to relieve it. He added that the Government had assured protection to the Karens living in the Rangoon area, and Karen volunteers would be withdrawn from there as the first steo under the Government’s agreement with the Karens.
