INQUIRY UNTO DURBAN RACIAL RIOTS

(9 a.m.) CAPE TOWN. Jan. 23. The South African Minister of Native Affairs said that a judicial commission of inquiry into the causes of the Durban racial riots would consist only of Europeans, says Reuter’s correspondent. Reuter’s correspondent in New Delhi says that the Indian Government in a statement regrets the “serious deterioration” in relations between Indians and Africans in South Africa. It announced that the Government had given £3750 for the relief of victims of the Durban riots and that further sums would be made available as required.
