ATTACK SCORES IN DUNEDIN CUP
FORBURY PARK TROTS
(P-A.) DUNEDIN, Jan. 24. Highland Fling failed by one-fifth of a second to equal his own Australian and New Zealand mile record of 1.57 4-5 on the first day of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s summer meeting on Saturday. However, he lowered his course record of 2.1 established last May by 3sec. He was accompanied over the last half-mile by a galloping pacemaker. He covered the first two furlongs in 30see.. the first half-mile in 58 l-ssec., six furlongs in 1.28 1-5, and the mile in 1.58.
In the Flying Handicap. Highland Fling caused a sensation by swinging round at the start and taking no part in the contest.
Right Royal fell and interfered with Good Review just after the start of the Cup race. Hineora fell in the Electric Handicap, bringing down First Lord and Bon Voyage and ruining the chances of several others.
Summer weather prevailed and the track was in good order. There was an excellent attendance, the totalisator handling £94,815 10s, 'compared with £91,531 10s on the corresponding day last year.
