Auckland Wins Two Junior Tennis Shields

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 24. The Canterbury junior lawn tennis team was not strong enough for the Auckland team in the finals of the Slazenger and Howe shields, played at Wilding Park on Saturday. Auckland won the Slazenger Shield by seven rubbers to two and the Howe Shield by six rubbers to three. A feature of the matches was the defeat of Mark Otway (Auckland), who won the the national junior singles title on Friday by A. N. Bailey (Canterbury), who was runner-up.
