Gisborne Sea Scouts Prominent In Nelson Competitions
(P.A.) NELSON, Jan. 22. Half of the total number of Sea Scouts in New Zealand attended the Dominion Sea Scouts’ camp on Haulashore Island, Nelson, during the past week. Visits were paid by the Empire Chief Scout, Lord Rowallan, and Mr. H, Christie, the Dominion president. The results of the competitions Jellicoe Silver Trident (best allround troop).—Takitimu (Gisborne), Iron Duke (Nelson) and Orakei (Auckland) will be the joint holders for 1949. Cornwell Shield (aggregate points in regatta)—Orakei (Auckland), 96 points, 1: Iron Duke (Nelson), 94 points, 2$ Takitimu (Gisborne), 93 points, 3. Leslie Shore Memorial (Senior Rowing style).—lron Duke (Nelson), It Orakei and Takitimu, 2 equal. Wellington Cup (Junior style).— Takitimu 1; Iron Duke 2, Orakei 3. Nelson Cup (open rowing).—Takitimti 1. Washborne Cup (senior rowing).— Kati Kati (Bay of Plenty), 1; Hawke, (Auckland) and Iron Duke (Nelson), 2 equal. Aorangi Cup (junior rowing).—Hawk® (Auckland) 1, Orakei (Auckland) 2. Sailing, Junior.—Southern Cross (Tauranga). Senior.—Orakei (Auckland). Life Saving.—lron Duke. Junior.— Iron Duke.
