SCRATCH PLAYER’S SURPRISE DEFEAT: GISBORNE CROQUET

Under the capable direction of the tournament manager, Mrs. P. Hockley, who is .. assisted by the tournament secretary', Mrs. F. M. Price, games in the annual croquet tournament being conducted in Gisborne by the P.BCroquet Centre continue to be played off in good time. Mrs. J. F. Donnelly, playing in the A handicap singles against Invercargill’s scratch player. Mrs. A. C. Haase, registered a surprise win, 26-11, with two bisques in hand.

Conditions on the greens continue to be good although the smaller number of greens (four), for such a big entry, continues to present difficulties in maintaining the schedule. Results follow.
