WAKEFIELD ETCHINGS SHOWING IN GISBORNE
ART EXHIBITION
Through an unfortunate error in distribution. the exhibition of works of arl from the famous Wakefield Collection now hung at the music-room in Gisborne under Hawke's Bay Art Society auspices consists largely of etchings.
This fine collection, which has beer, shown throughout Australia, is now being shown in New Zealand, due to the generosity of the British Council of Fine Arts. The collection was split and one case each of etchings and watercolours was to have been sent to Napier and Gisborne, but through a miscalculation, Napier has evidently received all the watercolours as nearly 50 etchings are in Gisborne.
The collection is a valuable one and is expected to hold considerable interest for art lovers. The exhibition opened on Wednesday and the pictures are available for Gisborne until the end of next week, but the extent of the patronage determines whether they will be kebt on show until that time.
