Continent Heavy Buyer At Auckland Wool Sale

(P.A.) AUCKLAND. Jan. 21. More than £BOO,OOO worth of new season’s wool was knocked down to a lively bench of buyers yesterday, the first day of the second main Auckland sale of the season.

Most of the offering of more than 23,000 bales went to the representatives of Continental firms who were mainly responsible for maintaining prices at the high level reached in other centres. Values were firm on recent rates and an average of between lid and 2d a pound above those of the first main Auckland sale in November.

Fifty-five buyers were at their places when the auction opened. Continental buyers almost held the floor through the entire sale. Buyers for Dominion mills, however, refused to be outbid and many of the high priced lots went to them after some spirited contests.
