NEW SET OF CLAIMS

FOR DRIVERS* AWARD (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. The drivers’ stop-work meeting in Wellington on January 28 would in effect consider a completely new set of claims for a new award, said the secretary of the Wellington Drivers’ Union, Mr. T. M. Magee, today. He added that the proceedings for a new award had broken down in the conciliation stages last month. Stopwork meetings for country drivers had been called for January 31 in Masterton and on February 4 in Palmerston North. The union would provide transport for drivers from the smaller outlying centres like Martinborough to attend those meetings. Drivers affected by the decision do not include omnibus or local body drivers, who are covered by separate awards.
