RUSSIA WARNED: U.S. STRENGTH IN ATOMIC WEAPONS
(9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 22. The United States Air Force in one atomic raid could hit Russia with as much explosive force as was released by all the world’s armies, navies and air forces in the Second World War, says an article in the Readers’ Digest, an article which, the Digest states, is written by a person who is a “confidant of American Air Force generals.” The article says: “In wisdom as well as in humanity we should warn the Russian rulers that we now have enough improved atomic weapons to immobilise Russia. . . . These facts are published in the hope of averting aggression based on a misunderstanding.”
