PROFESSOR P. M. S. BLACKETT, Professor of Physics at Manchester University, who has been awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics for his work on cosmic radiation. Considered to be one of Britain’s leading atomic scientists. Professor Blackett who is 51 years of age, is a Fellow of the Royal Society, and a member of the Academy of Sciences Institute of France. After the First World War he studied at Cambridge under Lord Rutherford, who was awarded a Nobel Prize in 1908. He became a Professor at London University in 1933, and has held his professorship at Manchester University since 1937.
