Harbour Race For Miller Cup
In a recent harbour race for the W. Barrington Miller Cup, conducted by the Gisborne Amateur Surf and Swimming Club, there were nine starters and the event was won by a long-handicap competitor, T. McDonald. Results were: T. McDonald. 45sec. ,1; J. McCulloch, 40sec„ 2: Miss N. Broome, 30sec., 3. Time, Imin. 59 l-ssec. Drunk in Childers Road Found drunk in Childers road on Tuesday afternoon, a Maori labourer, Henry Kereti, appeared in the Magistrate s Court at Gisborne yesterday on a charge of being drunk in a public place, the second offence of this nature within six months. On pleading guilty to this charge tie was fined £1 by Mr. E. L. Walton. S.M. On a charge of using obscene language in a public place yesterday. Kereli also pleaded guilty and was fined £3.
