STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL’S DEATH LEAP
NEW YORK, Dec. 21. Laurence Duggan. 43-year-old director of the Institute of International Education and a former expert on Latin America in the State Department, plunged to his death from a window of his sixteenth lloor office tonight. Shortly afterwards in Washington the House un-American Activities Committee disclosed that Duggan had been named as among those who passed confidential information out of the State Department to a Communist spy ring courier.
