MR. W. H. O. JOHNSTON, J.P., Ruatoria, has been Gazetted a coroner. MR. E. M. FYSON, Melbourne, has arrived at Gisborne for a short visit. He is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Rhodes. Wainui Beach. THE REV. REX GOLDSMITH, Auckland, of the Mount Eden Baptist Church, has accepted a call to the Hawera pastorate, and will conclude his six years' service at Mount Eden at the end’ of January. MR. C. F. SKINNER, Minister of Lands and Rehabilitation, left Gisborne yesterday for Wellington, niter spending three days in the district dealing mainly with rehabilitation questions.

MR. W. G. KIRK. Thursday Island, is visiting Rualoria for several weeks as ihe guest of Mrs. A. R. Windsor. Mr. Kirk, who was born on the Coast, is employed with the Native Department for Queensland, which includes Thursday Island. He has spent a few days in Gisborne and will probably be back here later.

MR. T. C. HISLOP, a former Mayor oi Wellington, is visiting Gisborne in his capacity of chairman of directors ot Luna Parks (N.Z.), Limited. He will spend a few days in the district in connection with the launching of the Gisborne Thirty-Thousand Club’s holiday carnival, for which his company is providing a major portion of the attractions.
