PERSONAL

MR. G. A. MADDISON, of Dannevirke, a former chairman of the Hawke's Bay Education Board, is at present suffering from ill-health and is in hospital in Palmerston North.

MR. S. S. P. HAMILTON, headmaster of the Whatatutu School, has been appointed lecturer in history at Ardmore Training College as from February 1, 1949. Prior to his appointment to the Whatatutu School last winter, Mr. Hamilton was first assistant in the secondary department of the Te Knraka District High School. —S.R.

MR. C. F SKINNER, Minister of Rehabilitation and Lands, arrived at Gisborne late on Saturday from Rotorua, via Waikaremoana. He is to remain in the district until tomorrow morning, when he will set out on his return to his headquarters in Wellington. Mr. Skinner is accompanied by a former Gisborne resident, Mr. Colin Dow, in the capacity of private secretary.
