FRESH CLASHES REPORTED IN BURMA

RANGOON, Dec. 20.
Fresh clashes are reported between Government troops and Karen insurgents in Karenni State, about 230 miles north-west of Rangoon An official of the Karenni Affairs Ministry said the rebels were in control in some areas, including those surrounding the British-owned tin and wolfram mines at Mawchi. The mines, he said, had not been interferred with.
