GREECE WOULD GO COMMUNIST WITH LITTLE PRESSURE
(P.A.)
AUCKLAND, Dec. 17.
With a “little bit of pressure from the north the whole of Greece would swing over to communism.”
This opinion was expressed yesterday by one of the Dominion’s most decorated wartime pilots, Squadron Leader D. J- Scott, of Greymouth, who returned in the Ceramic after being general adviser to the Royal Hellenes Air Force. While the Communists had a big Hold in Greece he would not trust one of them,” said Squadron Leader Scott. The National army was making little progress and if it were not for American aid the country would not keep going.
Squadron-Leader Scott said that Greek airmen were flying Spitfires in close support of the Nationalist ground forces while Dakotas were employed for dropping supplies.
