Hall, Mangapapa, is attending a conference of women of the South Auckland division of the National Party in Hamilton. Williams, Te Puia, visited Gisborne this week for the Kersey-Williams wedding, and stayed at the Masonic Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Ford and Miss Gay Ford, Katakataia, Ruatoria, who have been spending a few days in Gisborne, returned home yesterday. Mrs. Hcdlcy Reeves, Tolaga Bay, paid a brief visit to Gisborne this week, when she was the guest of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Alan Gunn, Ormond road. Visitors to Gisborne for the KerseyWilliams wedding on Thursday included Mr. and Mrs. Paul Williams, Hawke’s Bay, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Williams, Wairoa, and Mrs, A. C. Burch, Marton. Mrs. J. R, Murphy, Hinaki street, is ■pending the week-end with her daughter, Mrs. H. M. de Lautour, Opouiti, Wairoa, prior to visiting Hawke’s Bay. Mrs. C. H. Burdett, Tokomaru Bay, who has been on holiday in Wairoa and lotorua. where she was the guest of Hr. and Mrs. Shirney, has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Cooper. Cobden greet, leave for Auckland on Monday and on Wednesday will fly to Australia 'or an extended tour of that country. Mrs. Cooper has been the guest of honour at several parties, given by Mrs. Begg. Stout street. Mrs. A. Allan and Miss Jackson. Stanley road, and Mrs. W. Reddell, Kaiti esplanade. Miss C. M. Gunter, who has left Gisborne temporarily for an exchange teaching post in England, was recently ’arewelled by fellow-members of the Women Teachers' Association at the Bon Accord. Miss C. Baty, the president, presented Miss Gunter with a bouquet and also made a presentation lof flowers and crystal to the secretary » of the branch. Miss Betty Cameron, who has taken a post in Wellington.

ARTS AND CRAFTS DISPLAY Leather and poker work, embroidery, hand painting, crochet, tatting, brass and pewter work were some of the handicrafts displayed at the annual display of the Gisborne Women's Club arts and crafts circle last week- Beautiful objects suitable for Christmas presents filled the sales table. Mrs. E. R. Perry, convener, welcomed the guests. Items were given by Miss P. Cox, songs. Mrs. Kane, recitations, and Mrs. Elliott, piano solos. The club rooms were gay with flowers. Afternoon lea was served bv members of the circle.

QUIET WEDDING : MISS SHONA WILLIAMS AND COL. KERSEY

Mies Shona Mackintosh Williams daughter of Dr. ,T. W. Williams, Kaiti esplanade., and the late Mrs. Williams, was married quietly at the Waerenga-a-hika Church on Thursday afternoon by the Rev. J. G. B. Talbot to Colonel A. O. Kersey, Indian Army (retd.l

She was given away by her father and wore a turquoise blue frock with a pleated skirt, matching blue gloves, a white hat and accessories. Pink roses and carnations were in her bouquet. .A small after-wedding reception was given at their home, Kaimoe. Patutahi, b.v Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Williams, the latter wearing a powder blue frock with impressed pleats. Red roses were her flowers.

Colonel and Mrs. Kersey will shortly visit Australia, but have made no definite plans for their future place of residence.
