ROYAL SHOW ENTRIES SET NEW RECORD
(P.A.)
INVERCARGILL, Dec. 11
Entries received for the Royal Show to be held in Invercargill on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are higher than those at any of the 17 Royal Shows that have been held in New Zealand to date.
The entries total 3093. The previous record was 3089 entries at the Royal Show held at Hamilton in 1938. The only other Royal Show at which entries exceeded 3000 was that at Christchurch in 1936 when the total entries were 3018.
Compared with entries at the Royal Shows held previously in Invercargill, the entries this year are 973 more than those of the 1929 show, 922 more than those at the 1934 show and 732 more than those at the 1939 show. They are 265 more than at Hastings last year, the first Royal Show to be held in New Zealand after the interruption to the series caused by the war.
