AID IN PROTECTING FORESTS FROM FIRE MENACE REQUESTED
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 10. “At present we are experiencing normal early summer conditions,” said an official of the State Fire Service yesterday. “If the present fine weather with dry winds continues the possibility of serious fires will have to be considered, but a fall of rain would eliminate the danger.”
He emphasised that the co-operation of the public was essential at all times if serious damage to forests from fires was to be avoided.
