PAY AT 4/6 AN HOUR ASKED BY UNION FOR REGISTERED PLUMBERS
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 10.. Most matters in dispute in the plumbers and gas fitters’ dispute heard in the Arbitration Court yesterday related to wages and allowances. The union claimed 4/3 an hour and the employers made a counter-offer of 3/8J an hour. The union also sought 3d an hour extra for plumbers registered under the Plumbers’ Registration Act. The union further claimed an allowance of 2/6 daily for a worker responsible for a job and giving instructions to other workers. Other matters disputed were ships’ money, tool money and the union proposal that first-class passes should be provided for rail journeys of over 150 miles. There was disagreement over country work, cycle and car money and dirty work.
