AUSTRALIAN AIR TRAFFIC INCREASES

MELBOURNE, Oct. 4. Australian internal airlines carried 1,217,178 passengers in the financial year ended June 30 which represents an increase of 39 per cent, on the figures for the previous year. Australian National Airways carried 584.170 passengers and Governmentowned Trans-Australia Airlines 343,811. Air freight showed an increase of 110 per cent, on the figures for 1946-47. The total carried was 26.036 tons as against 333 tons carried in 1939.
