ADDED FACILITIES FOR MAORI D.H.S.: AUTHORITY ISSUED
(S.R.) WELLINGTON. Oct. 6. The Minister of Education, Mr. T. H. McCombs, has advised Messrs. D. W. Coleman and T. Omana, Parliamentary representatives of the Gisborne and Eastern Maori electorates respectively, that in response to the joint representations the Cabinet has approved of a grant for ground improvements at the Manutahi Maori District High School at Ruatoria.
The work, which is necessary to provide adequate playground space, will include the sealing of the playground and the road from the primary school to the district high school, gravelling of the remaining roads, construction of concrete kerbing and a new cattle stop, a new paling fence and front wire fence, and the concreting of floors of the shelter sheds and paths to school conveniences, with other contingencies.
