CLEAR-CUT MARGIN IN FINAL EVENT
(Herald Special Service.) Indian Sky was well backed in a good pool when he won the final event at Hastings on Saturday. He was always well placed and had the race in safe keeping over the last few furlongs, winning by the best part of two lengths. He is a seven-year-old and has taken five seasons to win his way out of the hack grade. Solimbine had to put up with second place again, Her running of late has been impressive and had her party elected to start Iter in the maiden class for which she is eligible she would probably have won a race. In the middle stages she was hemmed in a little. With a better run she might have been a little closer at the finish, but had no chance of beating the winner. Lochrea was another that did not receive the best of passages. Master Kip, whipper-in for most of the way, came from a long way back to get fourth . Possibly the distance was a shade short for this Poverty Bay gelding. Sandalwood ran a fair race for fifth. After her came Carter Fell, Salut D’Amour. Neap Tide and Salient. Master Moli seemed always in trouble.
