CONTROL OF PELTS AND SKINS TO REMAIN

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 30. The Federated Farmers have received advice through the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board that the Government has rejected the proposal for the removal of the controls on pelts, sheepskins, bobby calfskins, hides and tallow. The Government stated that to remove controls would infringe the stabilisation policy. The Government has also refused to agree to the proposal that farmers should be given the full proceeds of the sale of these products, or that the farmers should be freed from liability to subsidise local manufacturers using these goods.
