LONDON, Aug. 31. General Zhdanov, who was regarded as the Logical successor to Marshal Stalin, is dead, says the British United Press correspondent in Moscow. General Zhdanov, aged 51, was Mar-

shal Stalin's closest co-worker. He was secretary of the central committee of the Communist Party and one of the prime movers in 1947 in the foundation of the Cominform. General Zhdanov’s funeral takes place in Moscow’s Red Square on September 2.
