REVIVAL OF HONGKONG DEFENCE CORPS

(9.50 a.m.) HONG KONG, Aug. 31. A high Army source revealed today that the colony’s volunteer defence corps is likely to be activated shortly for the first time since the war.

The source disclaimed fears of possible internal trouble in Hong Kong although he admitted that the authorities were keeping a keen eye on the situation.

Hong Kong is peaceful now, but anything could happen in this community in 24 hours.

The corps will be on a larger scale than before the war with an Air Force section as well as Army and Navy.
