TE KARAKA GIFTS PLACED IN DESERVING HANDS

The Waikohu Food for Britain Committee has received acknowledgment of a consignment of foodstuffs dispatched to England Writing on July 20 the Mayor of Beckenham, Kent, Mr. T. Boyd Boyd. J.P., says:— "I wish to express on behalf of the Borough of Beckenham our sincere appreciation of the gifts of foodstuffs which have been sent under arrangements made by your organisation. “The allocations which reach us via the Ministry of Food are handled on behalf of the civic authorities by the local branch of the Women’s Voluntary Services, who have kindly undertaken to see to the distribution of the gifts, and I can assure you that the food will be placed in deserving hands and will be greatly appreciated. “The recipients are mainly old people, invalids, and families which are suffering particular hardship, and after the next distribution has been made I will arrange for some of the many letters of gratitude and acknowledgment to be forwarded to you. Meanwhile please accept my sincere thanks.” The Waikohu committee hopes to have sufficient funds to be able to send a further consignment in September, and all desirous of contributing are asked to send their donation to the hon. treasurer, Miss F. Mills, or the hon. secretary. Miss N. Parkinson.
